Gogi Gui

Last week for diner my roommate, a friend of her, and myself went for a Gogi Gui or some call it Korean barbecue :). It was in Korea town, an area near Tanjong Pagar in Central Singapore.

There were a lot of restaurants, and since this one was not so busy we decided to check in…

So let me step back a bit here; for those of you that don’t know what Korean bbq is, it’s basically Korean restaurants where dishes are prepared at the diner’s table on gas or charcoal grills built into the table itself.

We ordered the following…

Actually we only ordered meats (pork) and it all came with regular bachan or sides dishes.

(From left to right) Lettuce with black sesame | Kimchi, some white radish seasoned with salt and some other sauce (it is a must have dishes in any Korean charcoal restaurant) | fish paste.

Pickles | onions sauces | sesame oil/korean bbq sauce | Namul, it’s basically marinated vegetables with sesame oil, salt, garlic, and again some others stuff.

OK, next step is to grill

…then wrap up the meat and your chosen sides in the salad…

Yum! I have tried few of those Korean bbq, I remember having my first one in Korea town in New York with my friend Maréva. As far as I remember it was very good, here overall it was an “ok towards good” experience. Still, I particularly liked the Kimchi, especially after it being grilled; the onions sauce was also pretty tasty, perfect sauce for both the salad and the meat.

Ah almost forgot, one must be dry after this…nothing better than a fresh cold beer from from from?!…..Korea (like deuh).

As usual a good meal is always better when shared…
